Top End 2011

Courtesy of the folks at Tourism Australia, who selected me as a participant in a North American tourism mission, I will be visiting Australia's Top End in late March/early April. Our group will be fast and furious, seeing the sights in laid back, tropical Darwin, learning more about indigenous culture in the Tiwi Islands, and exploring the stunning raw nature to be found at Kakadu and Litchfield National Parks, all in a week. This is a part of Australia that doesn't land on enough North American travelers' itineraries when visiting Oz, and I fully expect to come away convinced that's a big mistake! It should be an exciting trip with lots to report...as long as I can avoid becoming a saltwater crocodile's dinner (They call them "salties" up there. Cute name. Ferocious beast. Note the picture of the croc eating the shark if you don't believe me.) There'll even be a few adventures in and around Sydney at trip's end. Check back for postings on my Top End (mis)adventures.
